Three seed; Flames win

Big, big, big win last night for the Flames, as they continued to show they are road warriors with a 13-5-3 record away from the Dome. These 13 wins already surpasses the 12 the club racked up in 06/07, of course that was the year Calgary won 30 of 41 home contests as well. Being able to win games on the road is going to be crucial for the club in the playoffs, which is finally appropriate to talk about as the boys are sitting third in the West with last night's win.

Miikka Kiprusoff has allowed one goal against in five of the last six games, and CuMac allowed only one against in his New Year's game versus the Oil. So it turns out Sutter was right; it was not the system that was flawed, only the effort levels of the players. Now these five wins in a row might do something big for the Flames emotionally, especially in terms of confidence. Nashville is a good team, and to go into the Sommet Center and walk out with a win is huge.

I was at the spOilers game last night and what I saw was pretty dismal. I haven't been to an NHL game since the Rangers were in Calgary in o6/07 (Huselius had a sicko pass to Iggy that game), and I was pretty excited to see a game albeit the Oilers and Coyotes. It's not even enjoyable to make fun of these guys anymore. I really feel bad for the fans, there is too much pride in the city for the organization to suck it up and realize that the team needs to be blown up and started again properly. The crowd was just not into it at all, even when Edmonton came back down by two, two times during the game. After the game I talked to a guy who I am sure was Ales Hemsky's brother and he shared his woes with me.

Although the beer goggles might have done that

Also, it is now $8 for a beer at a game which is sort of silly. Are they trying to deter people from drinking or do you think they're going for pure revenue? I'll leave that up to Milt the Stilt.
